Carbon fibre rollers (cylinders)
Composite materials allow designers to optimize roller construction; the fiber deposition directions are designed based on the loads to which the rollers are subjected. Finite element analysis allows for the desired responses to thermal and mechanical stresses. Emerging market demands are pushing manufacturers of flexographic printing and papermaking machines to reconsider the use of materials currently employed. Carbon fiber rollers have the following characteristics:
  • Extremely lightweight compared to steel and aluminum

  • Low rotational inertia

  • Higher rotation speed and increased productivity

  • High rigidity with less deflection

  • Ease of handling, resulting in simplified maintenance

  • Improved product qualityLower energy consumption

  • Lower energy consumption
